Monster GT SteeringIn this section...Steering overview:There is a ton to be understood and tweaked about the MGT's steering system, and these pages attempt to cover the most interesting & important points. Start with the general Tune Up & Modifications to make sure you've established a solid, balanced baseline. If you're running the stock radio system, be sure to give the Channel 4 mod a shot -- it's free and takes only seconds to do. If you're still unhappy after this, you should start thinking about upgrading to a better steering servo. There are lots of good ones, but one of the best (and Chevy-SS's favorite) is the 94358 Airtronics, with 200oz of torque and 60 degrees of rotation in .10 seconds. Besides the steering servo, another good upgrade right away is a rechargeable NiMH battery pack. Get one with at least 1100 MaH. If you want super-strong steering with quicker response, then take a look at the dual-servo steering mod page. For the ultimate in steering at low speeds and on very technical courses, consider the 4-wheel steering mod. We've also included a page showing the turning radius differences between different wheel/tire combinations, and a highlight of a very useful home-made setup board for taking accurate measurements. |
